Casting Call

Vertebra Theatre is seeking 1 female and 1 nonbinary highly skilled physical theatre performer and/or dancers with puppetry skills to form part of a small core team performing at the Cockpit Theatre from 4-6 of April our new production Electra Untitled. Electra Untitled is a physical theatre adaptation of the Greek tragedy by Sophocles. Dance, puppetry and visual storytelling reconstruct her story which she owns and rewrites through the lens of the female gaze. The project aims to raise awareness of domestic violence. There is a possibility of touring in the UK in 2023-2024 if funding is available.

Skills:

Ideally, you will have experience working professionally either as a performer/puppeteer or a physical performer/dancer. Recent graduates are also welcome to apply. You will have a strong grasp of movement, be able to pick up choreography quickly and be just as comfortable acting from a script as you are animating an object. You will also have some experience in Devised Theatre, being a team player, open to a collaborative way of working and being a part of an ensemble. Singing skills are desirable.

Fee:

£500 for 1 week of rehearsals spread over three weeks and £100 per performance for 3 performances. Dates and schedules are flexible and will be created with all the cast.

The project at this stage is supported by the Arts Council of England.

Rehearsals from 13/03 - 2/04 

Performance Dates: 04/04 - 06/04 (3/04 tech)

Place: Cockpit Theatre, London

 

To select performers we will be hosting general workshop audition on Saturday 04 of March from 5pm - 6pm.

Associate Producer call

Vertebra Theatre is seeking at Associate Producer to join the next exciting phase of the company by bringing the current productions of 'Electra Untitled' in UK and International Touring for 2023 - 2024 and contribute to the production of new plays for 2024 - 2025. Ideally with some previous tour booking experience in mid-scale venues. 

JOB DESCRIPTION
Engagement: March 2023   -  October 2023

SALARY: £1820 fixed fee (daily rate £140)

Key areas of responsibility:


- To support the Artistic Director and the core team with all aspects of producing Vertebra’s artistic programme.
- To establish and research theatre venues for performing opportunities for the agreed productions of the company for the agreed timeframes.

- To develop a fundraising strategy for the company with the core team, to research and apply to relevant funding opportunities and maintain a database with the funded sources and write bids as and when necessary.
- To lead on the key administration areas in the producing department including drafting of standard contracts for visiting artists, creation of contact sheets, production schedules and other admin tasks.
- To attend producing and production meetings where necessary. 

- To  evaluation of productions.


General
- Support the vision and mission of Vertebra Theatre.
- To be knowledgeable of all Vertebra products – keeping up to date with the artistic programme. - Attend Artistic, Management and Company meetings as required
- Attend press shows and meet guests at performances as required

- Network, maintain and develop relationships with companies / co-producing partners
